Service Pack update to Ascent® 2009 R2 Software Released
Commtest Instruments Ltd. aspires to do our utmost to ensure your complete satisfaction with our products. This includes continuous development and improvement on our current products. Commtest wishes to notify you that Ascent® 2009R2 Service Pack 1 is now available for immediate download.
We are urging all Commtest vbSeries® customers to install this service pack that will update both the Ascent Software and the vbX instrument firmware. (This update applies to English Language software and firmware only.)
Shortly following the release of Ascent 2009R2 we became aware of two instances in the operation of the vbX instrument - using English Language firmware version 3.3.32 - where certain measurement conditions could lead to inaccurate results. These two instances are described below -
1. When a 6Pack™ recording is followed by a higher-frequency spectrum and/or waveform, the results of the later recording could be inaccurate.
2. In the presence of high-amplitude, low-frequency vibration, the instrument may not be able to complete sensor settling, so could not take the recording without disabling 'Auto settling'.
Commtest recommends that our customers using vb5, vb6, vb7 or vb8 instruments should download Ascent 2009R2 SP1 from the Commtest website and Proflash your vbX instrument to firmware version 3.3.36. While other minor Ascent issues were also addressed in this Service Pack, these will not affect the majority of Ascent users, (please see the Release Notes for details).

The Ascent 2009 R2 software and associated vbX and vbOnline device firmware are now available for download from the Commtest Instruments website www.commtest.com (account login required).
