2009-04-17 Ascent® 2009 Software Released
Ascent® 2009 Software Released - The newest version of our award-winning Ascent® software is now available, together with new vbSeries® instrument and vbOnline® device firmware.
Commtest Instruments Ltd. today announces the immediate availability of its Ascent® 2009 software. Commtest's Ascent 2009 software builds upon the success of the company's Ascent 2008 R2 software release. The Ascent 2009 software is a 'performance improvement release' with a small number of new features in addition to performance and compatibility improvements for the vibration analysis professional.
- Extended internationalization engine
- Universal Plug and Play driver for USB communications with vbX portable instruments
- New Attached File Schedule Entry type
- Enhanced database utilities for updating and merging schedule entries and parameter sets
Also included with this new release of Ascent 2009 software is the latest vbX instrument firmware revision: 3.2.63. This firmware upgrade adds the following features and improvements:
- Extended language support for Russian, Chinese and Spanish.
- New USB Plug and Play (PnP) driver for instrument communications with Ascent
- LED Fault indicators are now used to indicate sensor bias voltages outside the expected range
- Operating system reimaging capability
- Users can now view all Folders present in an attached USB memory device before transferring or receiving data.
- The instrument no longer automatically jumps to the first unrecorded location in a Route.
Instrument Range
Commtest Instruments has a range of instrumentation encompassing four instrument models, including the previously released vb7 analyzer and balancer.

- Dual channel analyzer
- Balancing instrument including 2 plane, 2 sensor
- 6400 lines of resolution
vb6 data collector:
- Four channel data collector
- Triaxial sensor capable
vb5 data collector:
- Single channel data collector
- 6400 lines of resolution
- Easy to use GUI interface
All new analyzer and data collector instruments also include an enhanced IP65 rated case and come equipped with Commtest's revolutionary 6Pack recording mode, allowing up to 12 measurements to be taken simultaneously (6 on the vb5 model).
Note: vb7 instruments with serial numbers below 40600 (sold prior to April 2008) are not IP65 rated.
vbBalancer unbalance correction instrument:

vbBalancer+ unbalance correction instrument:
- Advanced four channel balancer
- 12 800 lines of resolution
- 2 plane 4 sensor capabilities.
