Balancing by Drilling Out Weight
QUESTION
Can I use the vb instrument for balance jobs where the balance weight can only be drilled out, not added? Can I drill out trial weights also?
ANSWER
Yes you can use the vb instrument when the balance weights must be drilled out as the 'remove at' angle is also displayed on the balance screen. You don't even need to do the angle + 180° calculation yourself.
And yes, you can use the instrument for the unusual situation where the trial weight must also be drilled out. However, you must take care as the vb instrument's on-screen wording assumes the trial weight has been added (instead of drilled out).
- In the Set Balancing Parameters Menu, set option 4 Remove Trial Weights to No (because once you have drilled out a trial weight you can't un-drill it).

- When you perform the balance the final balance weights should be drilled out at the angle displayed as 'Add' (non-bracketed) in the Balance Menu. 'Add' should be interpreted as 'add or drill out weight' (the same method you used for the trial run).
