Uninstalling Ascent/MAS VB

QUESTION

There is no 'Uninstall' option from the Windows® Program menu - how do I uninstall the software?

ANSWER

Use the Windows Operating system Add or Remove Programs function.

  • From the Windows Start menu select Settings>Control Panel then double-click the Add or Remove Programs option.

A window will appear which lists all the programs installed on your system.

  • Scroll down if necessary and look for either Ascent X.xx or VB-Series MAS VB. Select this item then click Remove.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to remove the software.

When you first installed Ascent/MAS VB software another package would have been installed at the same time. For Ascent 2005 or later this package is Firebird; for earlier versions of Ascent/MAS VB this will be called InterBase. If you are certain that no other applications are using the Firebird or InterBase package you can uninstall it using the same procedure as described above. If you are unsure of what other applications may be using the package leave it installed. It is a fairly small program that affects your system performance very little, even on lower specification PCs.
